Are you a new student at CITY College, University of York Europe Campus? This guide introduces you to the Library’s facilities, resources, and services to help you get started.

A warm welcome to all new students from the Library Services team!

The Library supports your academic studies by providing access to high-quality information resources, study spaces, and professional assistance.

Our premises include:

• Central Library, L. Sofou buidling
• The Green Reading Room, L. Sofou building
• Galini Campus Library, Oraiokastro

All premises offer computer and IT services, as well as reading and study spaces to accommodate different learning needs. As a registered student, you can also access the Library’s print and electronic collections.

Getting started

1. Register for CITY Library Membership

Register for CITY Library membership to access the full range of facilities and services available to you.

Your membership allows you to:

• Borrow, reserve, and renew library materials.
• Access electronic library resources.
• Use library computers and IT facilities.
• Print, scan, and photocopy documents.
• Reserve study spaces and rooms.
• Use available library equipment.

2. Your CITY College IT Account

Your CITY College computer account gives you access to essential university systems and digital services, including:

• Google Classroom and your course materials.
• Online library resources.
• Computer facilities and IT services.
• Your student email account.
• Other university applications.

Your username and password will be provided during Induction Week.

Please note: Your username cannot be changed.

3. Visit the Library Website

Visit the Library website for information about Library services, resources, and facilities.

4. Search OpenABEKT Online Catalogue

Use OpenABEKT online catalogue to search the Library’s collections, including books, periodicals, dissertations, and audiovisual materials. No login is required.

Choose Simple Search to find specific titles, authors, or keywords, or use Advanced Search to refine your results by subject and other criteria.

5. Set Up Your University of York Library Account

As part of the registration process, you will receive an email from the University of York entitled “University of York – personal account setup.”

Follow the instructions in the email to set up your account and access University of York Library resources, including:

• Academic literature: Books, journal articles, and book chapters.
• Online collections: Databases and e-book collections.
• Subject-specific resources: The Subject Guide for CITY College students.
• Academic skills support: The Skills Guides, covering information literacy, research, and digital skills.
